Most distressing however is the fact that your complaints have been rejected by the tin ears of the establishment bureaucrats and their flunkies who treat people of color as not worthy of respect or courtesy.Racism by people of color directed at people of color is difficult to understand when taken in the context of assuming that most people are rational and will act in their own best interested. Where is Black Live Matter? Over a dozen innocent Black lives were taken, and almost a hundred tainted by bullets. Where are the DEMONSTRATORS?Empty words are spoken by a few people - obviously not leaders in either the community or the BLACK LIVES MATTER organization - and nothing will happen. On second sight what you are experiencing is STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE for Government in Cook County, Illinois.
Indeed we get a great deal of rhetoric about EQUAL PROTECTION OF THE LAW and how the DEMOCRATIC PARTY strives for racial justice, but, the record and the rhetoric are not from the same planet. BLACK ON BLACK racism has always been a bugaboo in our society. It has been a pandemic.
Years ago, when I was practicing law I had some very wealthy clients who had a dark he to their skins and very little clout. There were several (2) minority owned banks. In the course my practice I dealt with both representing non-minority clients and their service and procedures were quite acceptable - not good - just acceptable. This was a condition that most small banks suffered from.
One day a well known minority businessman - who was a pharmacist by trade wandered into one of the banks, opened an account and then suggested to me that he would like to obtain a loan from the bank. I made application and we were turned down. The application that I made to FIRST CHICAGO at the same time was accepted without condition. I called the minority bank to see if they would reconsider - I was given a flat no! The other bank was equally disinterested in making clean, well secured loans to minority businessman. The media was disinterested in the irony.
law firms would rarely allow a minority contractor to accompany their gofers when permit questions arose. It always has been a known fact that Chicago was not racially friendly. Even electing Black officials changed things little.
